Although Gibraltar is within Europe, by virtue of being an Overseas Territory of Great Britain, it is in accordance with the terms of Accession outside the EU Customs Union. Gibraltar is out of the VAT zone and has no VAT system. Because of Brexit it is no longer part of the EU.
Because of this the Gibraltar Yacht Registration is a much used yacht registration which is valid in any EU country (also after Brexit) and any other country of the world.
It is also possible to avoid tax payment on the purchase of a newly bought yacht or a to be imported yacht.
Gibraltar is one of the most used "offshore" yacht registrations in the world.
