There seems to be a lot of confusion about the UK Part 1 registration in relation to the Brexit.

1. Can i still use a UK Part 1 registration after Brexit?
2. Are there now limitations for the UK Part 1 registration in relation to Brexit when sailing in the EU with it?
3. Do i have to leave the EU every 18 months if my boat has a UK Part 1 registration?

The answers are simple:

1. YES, you can use the UK part 1 registration in any country of the European Union without any problem after Brexit.
2. NO, for pleasure yachts with a UK Part 1 registration there are NO limitations in the European Union after Brexit. It is valid in any country of the world. You do NOT have to leave the EU after a period of time.
3. NO, the 18 month rule ONLY applies in relation to VAT. If the VAT has NOT been paid for a yacht you can avoid VAT payment by leaving the EU for one day and come back later. The 18 month rule has NOTHING to do with the registration type.

P.S. This 18 month rule apply’s for any yacht registered anywhere in the world, even if it is registered in the EU.

NON EU company owners can appoint a EU citizen as director themselves or they can use the nominee director service in addition. It is mandatory that the director is a EU citizen with an address in the EU.

For the company once a year accounting needs to be performed to meet the Irish requirements. This will be done by our Irish accountant.
